PATTEN, Maine — A Patten woman was charged with felony domestic violence and reckless conduct with a firearm after firing a weapon from her front porch when her estranged husband returned to the residence to fetch some of his belongings, Maine State Police said Sunday.

Police went to the residence of Paul and Shirley Turner at 4 Gifford St. after Paul said Shirley Turner had fired a shot from the porch. Trooper Timmy Saucier arrived within minutes of the report and found Shirley Turner on the porch unarmed, according to a police press release.

Paul Turner had gone to the residence to retrieve personal belongings. While he was there, his wife came out onto the porch and fired a handgun, according to police. Paul Turner told police he was uncertain in which direction the gun was fired. Witnesses at the scene also heard the gunshot and saw Shirley Turner walk back into the house with a weapon, police reported.

Shirley Turner was arrested and was held at Penobscot County Jail. She later posted bail.
