ORONO, Maine — Two Orono teens who decided to set off a series of fireworks at the University of Maine campus were charged, Joe Carr, university spokesman said Sunday.

Charlie Boyle, 19, and Karl Koehler, 18, were observed “setting of fireworks on the mall at UMaine” at about 1 a.m. Saturday by UMaine police officers and a security guard, he said.

Police immediately made contact with Boyle and Koehler and charged both with possession of fireworks.
