TOWNSHIP 6 RANGE 6, Maine — Two Smyrna men were charged with unauthorized use of property in connection with two skidders and a delimber being taken from a logging operation and used for a joy ride last weekend.

Nathan Swallow, 27, was arrested for unauthorized use of property and violating conditions of release. Jason Nelson, 31, was charged with unauthorized use of property.

Police said logging contractor Mark Charette of Fort Kent reported on July 18 that a 2004 skidder, a 2007 skidder and a 2004 delimber had been used, and found in a place where the loggers had not parked them. The contractor for Irving Woodlands told police the equipment did not appear to be damaged, but it was being checked carefully.

Maine State Police Trooper Timmy Saucier investigated the incident, which occurred on Lane Brook Road, approximately 13 miles west of Route 11. Police said in a press release that alcohol was a factor in the crime.
