Greg Mihalik plays Hamlet in Ten Bucks Theatre’s production of "Shakespeare under the Stars," set for July 28-31 at Indian Trail Park in Brewer and Aug. 4-7 at Fort Knox in Prospect.

BREWER — In one of the greatest tragedies in all of English literature, the ghost of his father visits the young prince Hamlet of Denmark. The former king’s spirit reveals that he was murdered by his brother, Claudius, who has since married the king’s widow, Hamlet’s mother, Gertrude, and taken the throne of Denmark. Hamlet agonizes over what course of action he is to take after the ghost visits him. Should Hamlet kill Claudius to avenge his father?

Often interpreted as the story of a young man for whom hesitation is a “fatal flaw,” Shakespeare’s “Hamlet” has far more complexities to discover. Ten Bucks Theatre invites patrons to attend Shakespeare Under the Stars, directed by Julie Arnold Lisnet, at:

• 6 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, July 28-30, Indian Trail Park, off Main Street in Brewer.

• 4 p.m. Sunday, July 31, Indian Trail Park, off Main Street in Brewer.

• 6 p.m. Thursday through Sunday, Aug. 4-7, Fort Knox, Prospect.

Bring blankets, folding chairs and a picnic. Tickets are $10, cash or checks only. The box office opens one hour before showtime. For information on Brewer shows, call 884-1030 or visit For tickets at Fort Knox, call 469-6553.
