WESTFIELD, Maine — More than 30 members of the Aroostook County Sheriff’s Department, Maine State Warden Service and Mars Hill Fire Department are searching for a missing Westfield man.

Lloyd Jandreau, 69, was reported missing at 10:30 a.m. after telling employees at the Southern Acres Care Facility, where he is a resident, he was going fishing.

Jandreau was last seen on Tweedie Road in Westfield around 10:30 a.m.

According to Aroostook County Deputy Sheriff Mike Montpetit, Jandreau, who has a form of dementia, has a history of telling staff he is going fishing at a small brook near the facility.

According to a release from the Aroostook County Sheriff’s Department, Jandreau was wearing a dark colored T-shirt, blue jeans and carrying a fishing pole when he was reported missing.

Jandreau is described as 5 feet, 11 inches tall, weighing 168 pounds with gray hair and brown eyes.

He also wears glasses and has hearing aids in both ears.

The release states Jandreau has family in the Portage area and that he may be trying to get to them.

Montpetit said that on Friday Jandreau had indicated he wanted to leave the resident facility.

As of Saturday evening the search included several police and warden K-9 units and a command unit had been established at the Mars Hill Fire Department.

Anyone who sees a man matching Jandreau’s description is asked to call the Aroostook County Sheriff’s Department at 800-432-7842 or any local law enforcement agency.
