The search for two missing swimmers who disappeared Friday afternoon while swimming from a boat in Lower Richardson Lake continued Saturday morning, according to a press release from the Maine Department of Fisheries and Wildlife.

Hoang Vo, 26, and Phil Le, 30, both of Boston, were camping with a large group on the lake, north of Andover, jumped into the lake from a 14-foot Lund boat and never resurfaced, according to the release. There were two other men on the boat, but they did not go swimming.

The Maine Warden Service was called in by the Oxford County Sheriff’s Office at approximately 3:40 p.m. Friday. A team of wardens, led by Warden Sgt. Scott Thrasher and assisted by Warden Chief Pilot Charles Later, searched by air and boats on rough waters until they suspended the search Friday.

A nine-member dive team, three boats and a shoreline team continued the search at approximately 7 a.m. Saturday and were still working as of 10:30 a.m.

Alcohol was a factor in the incident, as all four men were determined to have been drinking, the Maine Warden Service said. The service continues to investigate the incident.
