BUCKSPORT — Maybe you have your pie recipe at the ready, or you’ve decided it’s your year to win the Karaoke Contest or the 5K Fun Run, or both.

Any way you slice that pie, the Bucksport Bay Area Chamber of Commerce is ready to welcome all comers to the 14th annual Bucksport Bay Festival set for Thursday, July 28, to Sunday, July 31.

In Bucksport, even the one-mile Waterfront Walkway is a destination in itself, especially with the new Bucksport Area Veterans Memorial now complete near the corner of Main Street and the Route 1 bridge to Verona.

Nine flags on the Peary’s Landing site seem to beckon visitors, whether they enter the waterfront town from Ellsworth, Bangor or Verona.

It’s appropriate then that organizers of the Bucksport Bay Festival will welcome back the USS Navy Frigate John L. Hall, a 445-foot Navy frigate built at Bath Iron Works; and the Tackle, a US Coast Guard cutter.

Also in the weekend lineup are numerous activities for children, a pancake breakfast, fireworks, an expo sponsored by Bucksport Bay Healthy Communities and plenty of live music.
