DEXTER, Maine — A Farmington woman escaped injury Thursday when her vehicle dropped into a large hole on Upper Garland Road that was hidden by grass.

Tomasa Vincent, 62, told Dexter Police Chief Jim Emerson that she had dropped her husband off at a local dentist’s office and was taking a ride in the area when she noticed some flowers beside Garland Road.

She told Emerson that she stopped her car to look at the flowers and then drove forward to leave when the vehicle fell into a large hole at the end of a culvert. The impact caused the car to roll onto its roof, he said.

Vincent was wearing her seat belt and was not injured. Two dogs in her car also were not hurt, Emerson said.

Emerson said Vincent’s 1994 Oldsmobile appeared to be totaled.

Dexter firefighters assisted Emerson at the accident scene.
