Vinalhaven toddler seriously injured in fall from second-story window

By Heather Steeves, BDN Staff

VINALHAVEN, Maine — A toddler who fell from a second-story window Wednesday night was flown by LifeFlight from his Vinalhaven home to Maine Medical Center in Portland.

The 2-year-old boy had been pushing against the window screen at about 7:30 p.m. when it popped out and he fell to the ground.

“The baby fell about 15 feet to the ground and landed on tree roots that were sticking out of the ground,” wrote Knox County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Larry Hesseltine.

The sheriff’s office said the boy’s mother is Sarah Reynolds, but did not have the boy’s first name Thursday.

It was unclear Thursday exactly what condition the boy was in, but according to Sheriff Donna Dennison, “This looks very serious. I really feel bad for the family and hope the little guy is OK.”
