Lincoln Memorial Library plans book sale

DENNYSVILLE, Maine — Lincoln Memorial Library’s annual Big Book Sale will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. Aug. 13, on King Street.

Prices will be the usual $1 for hard copies, 50 cents for soft backs, and half price for children’s books. Although you may want to arrive early to get the best pickings, toward the end of the sale, prices will be reduced dramatically so that more books can find their way into readers’ hands.

Charlotte Fire and Rescue benefit to be held at station

CHARLOTTE, Maine — The Charlotte Fire Department and Auxiliary will host the second annual benefit for the Charlotte Fire and Rescue Department at 5:30 p.m. Friday, August 12, at the fire station, 1100 Ayers Junction Road (Route 214).

The menu will include a variety of beans, casseroles, salads, rolls, pies, cakes and other treats. There will be a Chinese raffle and individual raffle items to be drawn for at a later date, as well as a 50-50 drawing.

Admission price is $7 for adults and $3 for children 10 and under. For information, call Eileen at 454-8825.

Motorcycle benefit ride to begin in Belfast

BELFAST, Maine — There will be a benefit 100-mile motorcycle ride at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug 6, at Bowen’s Tavern, located at the corner of Routes 137 and 7.

Cost is $20 per bike. Preregistration starts at 8 a.m. The benefit is for Brad Jo Pinkerton, a 10-year-old with leukemia.

A pig roast will be held at 1 p.m. at Bowen’s Tavern and evening music will be provided by Paper Street. More than 30 items will be raffled off.
