St. Peters Lawn Party to be held in E. Millinocket

EAST MILLINOCKET, Maine — The St. Peters Lawn Party will take place from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 25, at 58 Cedar St.

Events for the day include a magician show, yard sale, games, cash giveaways, food, candy and novelty booths.

Bangor Hydro plans Little City outage Thursday

BANGOR, Maine — Bangor Hydro-Electric Co. is replacing damaged utility poles early Thursday morning and are warning residents in the Little City area to prepare for a short power outage.

The scheduled interruption is planned for midnight to 2 a.m. on “a portion of Broadway and the following nearby streets: Alden, Earle, Popular, Linden, Montgomery, Norfolk, Grant, Congress, Leighton, Madison, Blackstone, Jefferson, Division, Prentiss, Market, Willow and Curve,” a press release about the planned outage states. “It will also affect a handful of customers on Cumberland, McKinley, Center Street, Harlow Street and parts of Kenduskeag Avenue.”

The Mary Snow School will be affected, but nearby St. Joseph Hospital will not, it states.

Local youth clean up the community

BANGROR, Maine — Children from the local Modern Woodmen of America Youth Service Club recently worked together to beautify the community. Through the organization’s Community Beautification program, the youngsters cleaned up litter and painted new picnic tables at Stillwater Park on Howard Street.

The Bangor club is one of approximately 800 clubs nationwide that provide young Modern Woodmen members the opportunity to volunteer, be patriotic, learn new skills, make friends and have fun. Club members donate more than 300,000 hours of volunteer service each year.
