MONROE, Maine — A woman who called police complaining that her husband had been drinking and driving ended up being arrested early Monday morning because she allegedly had beat him and left him with bleeding lacerations on his face.

When Heather Stimpson, also known as Heather McIver, 27, of Monroe called the Waldo County Sheriff’s Office late Sunday night, one officer went to her house to talk to her and the other went to intercept her husband’s car.

Although she initially balked at making a report, according to Chief Deputy Robert Keating, Stimpson did tell police that her husband had “threatened her.”

But the other officer, who stopped her husband, said he had been beaten “pretty badly,” Keating said later Monday.

Stimpson was arrested and charged with domestic violence assault with one prior conviction and booked at Waldo County Jail.

A jail official said Monday afternoon that her cash bail of $500 had been posted, although not by her husband.
