Virginia evangelist Freddy Clark to preach at Old Fashion Revival Center

BLAINE, Maine — Evangelist Freddy Clark of Winter Haven, Fla., will preach at 6 p.m. Sunday, July 17, at the Old Fashion Revival Center, 13 Kinney Road.

Clark of Rocky Mount, Va., has been working in ministry for more than 50 years. His wife Sylvia and their 11 children are widely known for conducting revival crusades and musical concerts featuring bluegrass and country-style gospel music. For more information, call 429-9681 or visit

Classical musicians to perform at Hancock County churches

Cellist Toshi Kono and pianist Amber Yiu-Hsu Liao will perform at 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 19, at the Ellsworth Unitarian Universalist Church, 121 Bucksport Road. The duo also will perform with flutist Deirdre Macardle-Manning at 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 20, at Church of Our Father on Route 3 in Hulls Cove on Mount Desert Island.

Kono last year participated in the International 1,000 Cellists Concert for World Peace in Hiroshima. He is the recipient of the International Peace Prize and the World Medal of Freedom.

Liao has performed solo throughout the United States and Taiwan. The pianist has given recitals at Lincoln Center in New York City and the Freeport Memorial Library in Maine.

MacArdle-Manning is the founder of the Winter Harbor music festival in Acadia National Park. She has taught at Manhattan School of Music and Bowdoin College.

Episcopal churches join for ‘Mass on Grass’ in Old Town

OLD TOWN, Maine — St. Patrick’s Episcopal Church in Brewer and St. James’ Episcopal Church in Old Town will hold a joint Mass at 10 a.m. Sunday, July 24, at the River Front Park Gazebo.

This is the first joint outside Mass for the churches, which are teaming up to hire and share a full-time priest.

Participants are asked to bring lawn chairs for worship. A tent will be provided in case of inclement weather. For information, call 945-3838 or 947-0087.
