BANGOR, Maine — The fourth annual Penobscot River Revival is 10 a.m. -3 p.m. Saturday, July 16, along the waterfront. Events include short paddling trips on the river, boating safety tips, craft tables and other children’s activities, local river-related art show and sale, T-shirt sales, information on fish and wildlife, food from local vendors, over 30 exhibits and live music. CAMDEN, Maine — Neil Lash will present a talk on seed saving at noon Tuesday, July 19, at Merryspring Nature Center. Lash teaches horticulture, and is the director and co-founder of the Heirloom Seed Project at Medomak Valley High School in Waldoboro. Admission is free to Merryspring members and children; $5 for nonmembers. Merryspring is a member-supported, nonprofit nature education center and park located at the end of Conway Road just off Route 1 by the Hannaford shopping plaza in Camden. ELLSWORTH, Maine — Woodlawn Museum is offering an evening illustrated lecture on Wild Mushrooms of Summer with noted amateur mycologist Greg Marley, 6:30-8:30 p.m. Friday, July 22. On Saturday, July 23, Marley will lead a daylong identification workshop 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Participants will learn to identify common Maine mushrooms, where to find them and how to use them. FALMOUTH, Maine — Maine Audubon will hold its 28th annual loon count between 7-7:30 a.m. Saturday, July 16, on lakes and ponds across the state. Last year’s count enlisted 960 volunteers to survey Maine’s lakes and ponds. Based on their reports, Maine Audubon estimates that 3,220 adult loons are living in Maine south of the 45th parallel (roughly from Calais to Rangeley) — the highest number in the 27-year history of the count. GRAY, Maine — ATV MAINE will staff an exhibit at the Maine Wildlife Park in Gray ,11 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, July 23. ATV Maine was organized to promote the safe and responsible use of ATVs, to work on landowner relations, and to be a unified voice on legislative issues regarding ATVs. ST. ALBANS, Maine — The St. Albans Recreation Committee will hold a Summerfest Fishing Derby in conjunction with the annual community celebration 5 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, July 16, on Big Indian Pond and Little Indian Pond. All proceeds will benefit the St. Albans Playground Project. The weigh station will be located on the town lot across from Indian Lake Market, next to the Indian Pond Dam.
