Pemaquid archaeological dig postponed one week

BRISTOL, Maine — A planned archaeological dig at Colonial Pemaquid that was scheduled for the week of July 18-23 has been postponed until the week of July 25-29.

The dig has been postponed for logistical reasons, according to a press release from the Department of Conservation’s Bureau of Parks and Lands. The department has been soliciting volunteers for the dig, which will be led by the site’s historian and experienced archaeologists.

Because of an overwhelming response to the call for volunteers, the department asks potential volunteers to register by calling Parks Historian Tom Desjardin at 416-2230.
