BANGOR, Maine — A local man with a lengthy criminal record was arrested last week after he broke into a neighbor’s apartment and assaulted the woman who lived there, Bangor police Sgt. Garry Higgins said Friday.
Dwayne Madore, 48, was arrested and charged with felony burglary as well as assault in the break-in, which occurred July 6.
“Basically, he broke into a downstairs apartment and … assaulted the downstairs neighbor,” Higgins said.
The 25-year-old female victim had no visible injuries and did not need medical attention, the sergeant said.
“He’s on probation, so he was also charged with violation of probation,” Higgins said.
Madore has a number of convictions from district courts in both Bangor and Ellsworth, according to court reports printed in the Bangor Daily News.
In the last four years, he has been convicted of criminal mischief, two thefts by unauthorized taking or transfer, operating a vehicle without a license, operating a vehicle while license suspended or revoked, two counts refusing to sign criminal summonses, three counts violating a protective order and four counts violating condition of release.
If convicted of the felony burglary charge, Madore faces up to 10 years in prison and a fine of up to $20,000. (Nok-Noi Ricker, BDN)
