Bangor Hydro planned interruption in Clifton

BANGOR, Maine — Bangor Hydro-Electric Co. has announced a planned interruption in service for customers on Bobcat Road in Clifton at 9 a.m. Monday, July 18. This is necessary for crews to conduct routine maintenance on poles and lines in the area.

The outage is expected to last approximately two hours. Questions or comments may be directed to the Bangor Hydro Customer Service Center at 800-440-1111.

Sunrise Brass Quintet to swing Bingham’s 175-year‐old meetinghouse

BINGHAM, Maine — The Sunrise Brass Quintet, a Portland‐based band, will perform a program for all ages at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 31, at Bingham’s Old Free Meeting House.

Built in 1836 and on the National Register of Historic Places, the Meeting House is celebrating its 175th anniversary with a series of events. Admission is free.

The Sunrise Brass Quintet plays a mix of traditional and modern arrangements, everything from Civil War tunes to Beatles songs. The members of the group have been playing together for about 15 years at venues all over the state. Seth Blank, French horn, is a heart and lung surgeon at Maine Medical Center. Jeffrey Ertman, bass trombone, works at the Scarborough Public Library. Robert Filgate, second trumpet, is the retired head of the McArthur Library in Biddeford. Jon Hall, trombone, a Bingham native, is a former financial adviser. Martin Naas, principal trumpet, is a retired Greeley High School band leader who lives in Gardiner.
