Several Maine Little League umpires chosen for regional tournaments

Troy Richardson of Hermon, Robert Gillis of Ellsworth and Ed Parra of Appleton are among several Maine Little League umpires who have been selected to work in 2011 regional or world championship tournaments.

Richardson will represent Maine District 3 in the Little League Baseball 11-12 East Regional scheduled for Aug. 5-14 at Bristol, Conn.

Gillis, from Maine District 1, will umpire in the Little League Baseball 9-10 East Regional to be held at Cranston, R.I., from July 30 to Aug. 7.

And Parra, from Maine District 2, will be part of the umpiring crew for the Senior League Softball 15-16 East Regional slated for July 29 through Aug. 4 at Worcester, Mass.

Glenn Fox of Bar Mills and Maine District 6 in the Portland area has been chosen to umpire in the Junior League Softball World Series to be held Aug. 14-20 at Kirkland, Wash.

Another District 6 umpire, Anthony Pereira of Portland, will work the Little League Softball 9-10 East Regional at Fleetsville, Pa., from July 30 to Aug. 7.
