All-star tourneys roundup: Holbrook eliminates Brewer

HOLDEN — Ray Wood smacked a three-run home run in the bottom of the fifth inning to drive in what proved to be the winning run as Holbrook edged Brewer 15-14 in a Little League all-star baseball game for ages 11-12 Thursday.

Danny Davis hit a solo home run and a double for 5-1 Holbrook. Morgan Slater hit two doubles and drove in three runs. Tyler Timms and Alex Maxsimic each doubled while Nick Siebert chipped in with a two-run single.

Connor Dempsey hit a three-run home run and a two-run double for 3-2 Brewer, which was eliminated. Kyle St. Thomas had a double, a single and three RBIs. Drew Baker and Cameron Green each added a double.

Bangor, Hermon win

At Mansfield Stadium in Bangor, host Bangor and Hermon improved to 3-0 in the tournament with victories. Bangor shut out Hampden 10-0 in five innings and Hermon beat Lincoln 18-9,

In the first game, Joseph Plummer knocked in four runs with a double and a single and Michael Turner hit two singles with four RBIs to spark Hermon’s 15-hit attack.

Eric Hoogterp collected three singles and two RBIs for the winners, who got a triple and two singles from Andrew Elston and an RBI double from Chase Tucker.

Riley Coburn and Kyler Peters each hit two singles with an RBI for 1-1 Lincoln.

In the second game, Justin Courtney and Ryan Brookings combined on a three-hit shutout and struck out eight between them.

John Stanhope hit and inside-the-park home run and a single to pace Bangor, while Andrew Hillier singled twice with an RBI. Courtney added a double and two RBIs and Jordan Derrah stroked a run-scoring double with Alec Coleman and Brookings each adding a double.

Dakota Sudbeck, David Manzo and Jordan Dysart singled for 1-1 Hampden.
