Bangor teen caught driving 104 mph

HAMPDEN, Maine — A 17-year-old Bangor boy was caught going 39 mph over the speed limit on Interstate 95 on the Fourth of July, Maine Public Safety Department spokesman Stephen McCausland said Thursday.

“The teen had another 17-year-old in the SUV with him and both parents were contacted,” McCausland wrote in his weekly news release.

The teenager was stopped going 104 mph around 1 p.m. by Maine State Police Trooper Forrest Simpson. The name of the teen driver, who was charged with criminal speeding, was not released because he is a juvenile.
