St. Thomas sparks Brewer 11-12 stars past Hermon


BREWER — Kyle St. Thomas hit a game-tying two-run home run in the bottom of the sixth inning Wednesday to help Brewer defeat Hermon 6-5 in District 3 ages 11-12 all-star baseball game.
Down 3-0 heading into the bottom of the fourth inning, Brewer scored two in the bottom of the fourth, one in the fifth, and two off St. Thomas’ home run that tied the game at five, which forced extra innings. Brewer didn’t allow Hermon to score in the top of the seventh, and then won in dramatic fashion with a run in the bottom of the seventh. St. Thomas finished with a home run, single and an RBI, and recorded the win on the mound going six innings. Jared Austin had a double, single and two RBIs, and Jack Corey had a single and an RBI for 3-1 Brewer.
Matt Leach had two doubles and an RBI, Tyler Beaton added a double, single and an RBI, and Brendan Walsh contributed a single an an RBI.

Holbrook 5, Hampden 2

At Holbrook, Alex Maxsimac pitched five shutout innings striking out 12, and hit a two-run triple in the Holbrook’s breakout third inning to lead Holbrook past Hampden in the District 3 11-12 all-star tournament.
Jon Wood had a triple, single and two RBIs, and Tyler Timms and Ray Wood each had two singles.
Cole Tweedie had an RBI double in the sixth inning for Hampden.

At Bucksport, Brody Boynton pitched five no-hit innings, striking out 11 and walking only one helping lead Bucksport past Ellsworth in 10-11 District 1 all-star action.
Boynton also had a double and an RBI. Chase Carmichael had a double, Kiegan Riccard had a triple, and Tyson Gray had a double for 1-0 Bucksport.
Austin Baren and Same Keefe each had singles for 0-1 Ellsworth.

At Bucksport, Dylan Soper’s three-run double highlighted a four-run rally in the third inning that propelled Bucksport to victory in the opening game of the District 1 Junior League baseball tournament.
Soper also earned the pitching win by working the first five innings before giving way to Jacob Gauvin, who pitched a scoreless sixth inning during a contest that ended after six innings due to the 10-run rule.
Asher Bowden tripled, singled and scored four runs for Bucksport, while Ryan Grindle also tripled and signled and Jack Cyr singled twice with an RBI.
Hank Vynall singled twice for Coastal.

At Bangor, Jake Drew hit a two-run triple in the bottom of the sixth inning giving Houlton a 3-2 lead and helping them earn a 4-2 win over Old Town at the District 3 Junior League tournament at Mansfield Stadium.
Kole Buzzeo went the distance on the mound allowing two runs – with one being earned – striking out four while giving up six hits and two walks. Drew scored Houlton’s fourth run on an Old Town throwing error. He finished with a triple, single, and two RBIs and Ryan Dee had two singles for 1-1 Houlton.
For 1-2 Old Town, Drew Coulombe had two singles and an RBI and Adam Richardson had two singles.

Holbrook 11,Orono-Veazie 0

At Bangor, Joe Archambault’s two-run triple highlighted a seven-run uprising in the bottom of the first inning that lifted Holbrook to victory.
Archambault also singled, while teammate Seth Pearson had three singles and two RBIs and Tom Burns doubled with an RBI for 1-1 Holbrook.
Dillon Cyr and Dennis Farnham each singled for 1-2 Orono-Veazie.
