BANGOR, Maine — The Bangor Region Chamber of Commerce and the city of Bangor on Wednesday announced an interim plan for the relocation of the Chamber’s offices to make way for a new arena and convention center in Bass Park.
The Chamber, which has had its headquarters in Bass Park since 1982, will be moving on an interim basis to a city-owned property at 208 Maine Ave., Bangor near the Bangor International Airport. The Chamber will lease the property for $1 for the year and will assume responsibility for paying the operating costs of the location. These terms are similar to the arrangement the Chamber and the city had at the Bass Park location.
City and Chamber leaders will next turn their attention to developing a permanent headquarters for the Chamber in coming months. The hope is to find a suitable location in downtown Bangor.
