AUGUSTA, Maine — Volunteers with a little time and who don’t mind getting their hands dirty are needed at one of Maine’s historic sites.
The Bureau of Parks and Lands said a weeklong annual archaeological dig will be held next week at Colonial Pemaquid State Historic Site in New Harbor. Volunteers will dig for historic artifacts associated with a colonial fishing village.
Park Historian Tom Desjardin said the site’s within a few yards of where Native American remains and all kinds of artifacts have been found.
The dig will take place from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, July 18-23.
