St. George Days Celebration

TENANTS HARBOR — The annual St. George Days Celebration, with many community fundraising events, will be held Friday, July 15, through Sunday, July 17. The weekend begins with a free Street Dance and Antique Car Rally at the elementary school parking lot. Live music will be provided by The Rhythm Kings-3 Button Deluxe from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. St. George Maine T-shirts and hats will be available for purchase as well as light refreshments.

Also on Friday evening, the ninth annual Artists of St. George Art Show Opening will be held 5-8 p.m. at the Odd Fellows Hall. Show will run July 16-31 over three weekends. Call 372-6501 for more information.

A Pancake Breakfast 7-9:30 a.m. Saturday, July 16, will benefit the Trekkers along with the Trekkers Yard Sale Extraordinaire from 8 a.m. to noon to benefit the 10th Grade Trekkers Program, Class of 2013. Contact Cathy Ansart at or 373-8838 if you want to donate items.

There will be a half-mile fun run for kids at 8:25 a.m. and the Marshall Point 5K Lighthouse Loop at 8:30 a.m.

The Jackson Memorial Library Book Fair will be held 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Sundaes will be on sale at the Legion Hall 10 a.m.-3 p.m.

The parade will be held at 11 a.m. on Main Street. The annual Lobster Dinner Fundraiser to benefit the St. George Fireman’s Association will be held 11 a.m -7 p.m., with lobster dinners, hamburgers and homemade pies.

After the parade will be children’s activities provided by the Harmony Baptist Church, the Legion Riders, the Dunk Tank Challenge, visits to the St. George Historical Society Schoolhouse Museum, and a Home Run Derby at 3 p.m.

The weekend will be capped off Saturday evening by a Monhegan Boat Fireworks Cruise, call 372-8848 for reservations, and the return of the Spectacular Fireworks Display over Tenants Harbor.

The final event of the weekend will be the Old Timers Baseball Game at 1 p.m. Sunday, July 17.

The town of St. George appropriated $5,000 and the St. George Days Committee has worked to raise the additional $5,000 needed for the fireworks. As of press time, the fundraising goal has almost been reached. Additional donations for this year and for 2012 would be greatly appreciated.
