All-star tourneys roundup: Lincoln, Bangor, Hermon record Junior wins

BANGOR — Bangor and Hermon improved to 2-0 in the District 3 Junior League baseball all-star tournament by posting victories Saturday at Mansfield Stadium in Bangor.

Bangor defeated Holbrook 10-4 and Hermon downed Houlton 13-2. Also Saturday, Lincoln opened the tournament with a 13-2 victory over Sebasticook and Hampden handled Brewer 23-1.

In Saturday’s opener, Brett Crocker pitched five innings, allowing two unearned runs on seven hits, as Lincoln defeated Sebasticook.

Tanner McCarthy hit two singles with two RBIs for 1-0 Lincoln. Kyle Peters hit a two-run inside-the-park home run. Brett Crocker singled twice while Garrett Neal and Riley Coburn each hit a two-run double.

Connor Allen led 0-1 Sebasticook with three singles and an RBI. Nathan Lancaster added an RBI double.

In the third game, Eric Hoogterp pitched five innings of five-hit, two-run ball and stroked two singles to pace Hermon (2-0) to the five-inning victory. He struck out seven and walked two.

Andrew Elston hit a two-run triple, MIke Guerrette doubled in two runs and Joe Plummer had a double and an RBI for Hermon, which scored eight runs in the first inning.

Ryan Dee singled and scored for 0-1 Houlton.

In the nightcap, Jordan Derrah lined a three-run triple to account for the only hit during a five-run fourth inning to carry Bangor to victory over Holbrook.

Derrah added a single and another RBI for 2-0 Bangor, while Nick Moore singled twice and John Stanhope posted an RBI triple.

Joe Archambault stroked two singles with an RBI to pace 0-1 Holbrook.

At Holden, Holbrook erupted with nine runs in the second inning en route to victory over Hermon.

Nick Lakeman posted two singles, a double, two RBIs and two runs scored for Holbrook. Andrew Kiley had a double, two RBIs and two runs while Levi Williamson doubled and singled. Max Perkins added two singles.

Chris Sherman, Adam Rush and Eric Byers each singled for Hermon.

At Old Town, Robben Harris rapped a double and two singles with three RBIs and pitched five-plus innings to spark Brewer into the championship round.

James McGlaughlin belted a triple, a double and a single with two RBIs and Brandon Mornault stroked a triple and two singles for 3-1 Brewer. Connor Roope hit three singles (1 RBI), Ben Byorak provided two singles and two RBIs and Miles Kirby added a run-scoring double.

Johny Spencer paced 2-2 Old Town, which was eliminated, with an RBI double. Matt Bouchard contributed a triple.

At Old Town on Friday, Dana Ouellette sparked an eight-run fifth inning with a three-run home run as Old Town topped Brewer.

Nick Magoon posted a double, a single and an RBI for 3-0 Old Town. Kaleb Gifford doubled and singled while Ethan Stoddard added an RBI triple.

Jared Austin led 2-1 Brewer with three singles and an RBI. Alex Brooks had a double, a single and an RBI while Cam Green and Drew Baker each hit a double.
