Donations sought for Chamber auction on Oct. 14

We are excited to announce our online and live auction event for 2011. At 8 a.m. Sept. 19, the “doors” will open to our auction, which will take place on the Internet at Online bidding will open on Sept. 19, with the live auction on Oct. 14.

The online auction bidding will run from 8 a.m. Sept. 19 through 9 p.m. Oct. 10, with about 100 items heading to a live auction on Friday, Oct. 14, at the Rockland Elks Lodge, 210 Rankin St. in Rockland. There will be live auction items, cash raffle prizes, raffle items, cash bar and concession stand. Bruce and Becky Gamage will be the auctioneer team.

The live auction items will be clearly identified on the website, and absentee bidding will be available for those who cannot attend the live event.

Chamber members will receive emails about the auction and can forward the emails to invite an unlimited number of guests to virtually “attend” and take part in the auction. Members of the public may participate by going to Using software provided by BiddingForGood Inc., an organization with a focus on serving nonprofit organizations, and thanks to the generosity of donors, the Chamber will assemble a catalog of hundreds of auction items over the next few months.

Items up for bid will include business services, artwork, unique experiences, travel, lodging packages, dining, recreational activities, gift baskets, train rides, boat trips, festival tickets, landscaping supplies and much more. Donations are being accepted now through September. Log on to the site and click on the “Donate Now” button or call the Chamber (ask for Shari Closter) with your donation. Users also may contribute to the auction’s success by using the “Tell A Friend” button on the website.
