CARIBOU, Maine — Police in Caribou were still searching Friday afternoon for a Perham man who bolted from a car that he was riding in after the driver was pulled over by police in the city on Thursday morning.

Caribou Police Chief Mike Gahagan said Friday that his department also was appealing to the public through social networking sites for help in locating Christopher Bragg, 29, of Perham. Gahagan said Bragg, who has warrants out for his arrest, is facing several charges, including for domestic violence and failure to pay fines.

Bragg was a passenger in a vehicle that was stopped on Limestone Street in Caribou at 10:30 a.m. Thursday. The officer discovered that Bragg had outstanding warrants and was about to take him into custody when Bragg jumped out of the car and ran away into a wooded area. The department launched a ground search and the U.S. Border Patrol searched by air, but officers still had not located him as of 3:30 p.m. Friday.

Bragg was last seen wearing a black T-shirt, black pants and high rubber boots with orange bottoms. He has a lean build with closely cropped dark brown hair and facial hair.

Gahagan said he doesn’t believe Bragg is still in the Caribou area. He has family in Castle Hill.

Anyone with information concerning Bragg’s location is asked to contact the department at 493-3301.
