Bangor Legion baseball team improves to 15-1

BANGOR — Bangor Comrades pitchers combined to limit the Lumber to one run and five hits combined in earning an American Legion baseball doubleheadher sweep Thursday night at Mansfield Stadium. Bangor won the opener 11-0 and took the nightcap 4-1.
In the first game, Jesse Wood pitched a three-hit shutout with six strikeouts and five walks to propel Bangor (15-1). Nic Cota paced the offense with two singles and two RBIs.
Dylan Morris hit a run-scoring double while Seth Freudenberger and Sam Stanhope posted RBI singles.
Ted Walker doubled and singled for Lincoln (7-8).
In the second game, Brian Rouleau hurled a two-hitter with five strikeouts to lead the Comrades. Hunter Boyce singled twice with an RBI and Cota had two singles.
Christian Corneil smacked an RBI single, Freudenberger doubled and Joe Stanevicz added a sacrifice fly.
Dustin Santelli doubled and Ryan Thompson chipped in with a single for Lincoln.

Calais 3, Acadians 1
At Blue Hill, Rick Pineo highlighted a three-run second inning with a two-run single as Calais topped the Acadians.
Tim Barnes tossed a complete game, giving up one run on two hits for 5-9 Calais. Bryce Colbeth chipped in with two singles.
Mike Crowley drove in the run for the 2-12 Acadians on a sacrifice fly. Robbie Logue and Devin Young each hit a single.

Brewer 6, Hampden 0

At Bucksport, Pat McEwen pitched a complete game, allowing three hits and no walks to lead Brewer by Hampden.
Brandon Gendreau hit three singles and scored two runs for 12-4 Brewer. Eric White hit two singles and drove in two runs while Jeremy Bissell added two singles and a run.
Derek Bernosky, Justin Amoroso and Connor Perry each singled for 10-6 Hampden.

Motor City 14, Penquis 7

At Husson University’s Winkin Complex in Bangor, Zak Kochis spread out nine hits and helped his own cause with two singles and three runs scored as Motor City posted the victory.
Ryan Carr rapped a double and a single with two RBIs and three runs scored for the winners, while Sean O’Donnell knocked in three runs with two singles. Casey Estes poked two doubles, Tyler Eddy smacked a two-run home run and Phil Benoit added a double.
Kaleb Smith and Caleb Richard each hit two singles for Penquis and Kevin Leary contributed a double and two RBIs.

During this busy sports season, the BDN asks that managers and coaches for the home teams promptly report the games. Games can be reported starting at 5 p.m. on Monday through Friday and 3 p.m. on Sundays. Games can not be reported on Saturday.
Those seeking to report games from the Greater Bangor area may call at 990-8275. Those outside the Bangor area may call toll free at 1-800-310-8600. Game results will also be accepted through the fax machine (990-8092) or via e-mail:
Coaches and managers are urged to provide details for both teams when reporting games. First names of players on both teams as well as statistics are needed. Those not providing full details for both teams run the risk of the games not being published in the paper.
