Harris posts five RBIs to power Brewer past Bangor West

OLD TOWN — Robben Harris hit a two-run home run in the second inning and a three-run triple in the third inning Wednesday to spark Brewer past Bangor West 16-7 in a District 3 ages 10-11 Little League all-star baseball game.

The game was called in the fifth due to thunder showers. Myles Kirby hit an RBI triple in the second inning and added a single. James McLaughlin had two singles, and Hunter Umel had a two-run triple in the top of the fifth for Brewer.

For Bangor West, Derek McCarthy had three singles and two RBIs, Peyton Campbell had two singles and two RBIs, and Noah Lunt added two singles.

At Ellsworth, Cooper Henderson’s two-run homer tied it in the sixth and Troy Folmer’s RBI double in the seventh broke the tie as Ellsworth rallied past Coastal of Blue Hill in a winners’ bracket game.

Down 2-0 entering the sixth, Trent Mahon tripled and Henderson hit his homer to tie it.

In the seventh, Zack McGraw doubled, went to third on a fly out and scored on Folmer’s double. Folmer stole third and scored on the ensuing overthrow.

Henderson had a double to go with his homer while McGraw and Folmer had singles to go with their doubles for 3-0 Ellsworth. Nick Bagley pitched 2 ⅓ innings of hitless relief with six strikeouts to pick up the win. He relieved Hunter Cote, who struck out 11 in 4 ⅔ innings and allowed five hits and two runs (one earned).

Taylor Shildroth had two singles for 2-1 Coastal and Garrison Looke had a run-scoring single.

At Patten, Jacob McAvoy’s two-run single highlighted a five-run fourth inning that snapped a 5-5 tie and gave Katahdin Valley its win over Lincoln. The game was called after five innings due to weather.

McAvoy had two singles and three RBIs and Dalton Hart had a triple and a single for 1-1 Katahdin Valley. Wesley Raymond and Jackson Mathers had two singles and an RBI apiece and Thomas Prescott had an RBI double.

Carter Ward singled twice for 1-2 Lincoln and Cam Fournier had the other hit, also a single.

Houlton 5, Millinocket 3

At Houlton, Bill Phillips hit a two-run double to highlight a three-run third inning that carried Houlton past Millinocket in District 3 ages 11-12 all-stars action.

Nate Mooers had a double, a single and an RBI, and Conner Grant added two singles and two runs scored. Cameron Graham and Nick Cowperthwaite combined to throw a 4-hitter while striking out 11 for Houlton.

Justin Thompson had a triple, single and an RBI, and Chris King had an RBI double for Millnocket.
