HAMPDEN, Maine — The MSAD 22 Education Foundation, a nonprofit organization supporting district schools, has launched a website at www.msad22foundation.org to further its mission to support innovation in teaching and learning.

The site includes information about the foundation and its board, upcoming events, news, volunteer opportunities and ways to give.

Veterans services officer in Newport

NEWPORT, Maine — Don Dare, veterans services officer from the Department of Defense, Veterans and Emergency Management will be available from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, July 8, and Thursday, July 28, at Newport District Court. Bangor church to hold benefit concert

BANGOR, Maine — Singer-songwriter Amy Robbins-Wilson will perform in concert at 7 p.m. Sunday, July 10, at the First United Methodist Church in Bangor. The concert will benefit the Empty Arms Charities, a project of Healthcare Charities that supports grieving families who have suffered the loss of an infant through pregnancy loss, stillbirth or first few month of life. Challenger Learning Center awarded NASA grant

BANGOR, Maine — The Challenger Learning Center of Maine has been awarded a $2500 grant from NASA Summer of Innovation. The funds will be used to provide scholarships for middle school students. Annual strawberry festival planned for Hampden

HAMPDEN, Maine — The Annual Strawberry Festival at Hampden Highlands United Methodist Church will be held 4-6 p.m. Saturday, July 9, at 44 Kennebec Road in Hampden.

Games for kids including face painting, strawberry relay races, bobbing for strawberries and chances to throw pies in the faces of our Pastor and Youth Group Leader! Dinner will start at 4:30 p.m. and menu includes ham, potato and macaroni salad, three-bean and gelatin salads, strawberry shortcake and beverages. Homemade goods will be available for sale. Baked bean supper in Dedham

DEDHAM, Maine — There will be a baked bean supper from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Saturday, July 16, at the Dedham Congregational Church in the Dedham Village. Price for supper is $8 for adults and $4 for children. All are welcome.

Legislator to speak on Physical Disabilities

BANGOR, Maine — State Rep. Matthew Peterson, D-Rumford, an independent living

specialist and advocate for the disabled, will be guest speaker at the next Physical Disabilities Support Group meeting at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, July 7, at Winterberry Heights, 932 Ohio St. in Bangor.

A two-term legislator, Peterson has been employed by independent living organization Alpha One since 2007. His major areas of focus in Augusta include long-term care, services for the disabled, community development, education and substance abuse prevention.

Those with physical disabilities, their families and friends, caregivers, health professionals and the public are invited to attend. Prior to the meeting there will be a potluck supper beginning at 5 p.m. For more information, call 945-6878 or 942-6720.

Atkinson church to hold quilt show
