Gale leads Acadians past Penquis in Legion baseball

DOVER-FOXCROFT — Josh Gale hit a three-run home run in the top of the first inning Tuesday to lead the Acadians to a 6-3 American Legion baseball victory over Penquis.

Mike Crowley had a double and a single, and Nick Kane and Chase Bickford each contributed two singles. Jesse Dow went the distance on the mound to get the win for the 2-11 Acadians.

Josiah Richard and Zach Kirlin each had a double and a single for 1-12 Penquis.

Brewer 1, Lincoln 0

At Millinocket, Evan Eldridge outdueled A.J. Harris and Eric White doubled and scored the only run on a double-play grounder in the fourth inning as Brewer triumphed.

Eldridge tossed a three-hitter, striking out six and walking three.

White doubled to open the fourth and Kyle McLain singled him to third before he scored on Eldridge’s grounder.

Harris pitched a four-hitter with eight strikeouts and three walks.

White also had a single in the game and Tyler French doubled for the 11-4 winners.

Garen Manzo, Dustin Sawtelle and Ted Walker singled for 7-6 Lincoln.

Eldridge and Potter; Harris and Cyr

Bangor 9, Hampden 1

At Hampden, Joe Stanevicz tossed a four-hitter, striking out seven and walking four, and aided his own cause with a two-run double in the third inning as the Comrades avenged their only loss.

Cody McInnis and Nic Cota had run-scoring singles in the six-run sixth inning that broke the game open.

Cota had three singles and an RBI and Christian Corneil doubled and singled and drove in a run for the 13-1 Comrades.

Justin Rodgerson homered for 10-5 Hampden.
