PORTLAND, Maine — Police in Maine said a New Hampshire man is in serious condition after an SUV driver struck him on a busy street and drove away following an Independence Day fireworks display in Portland.
Police said a 39-year-old man from Pelham, N.H., was struck at about 10:15 p.m. Monday by a vehicle driven by 34-year-old Jason Beaudoin of Portland after the two men got into an altercation on Congress Street on Portland’s Munjoy Hill as thousands of people dispersed following the city’s annual Fourth of July fireworks show.
Police said Beaudoin drove away without stopping, and that he was located at 6 a.m. Tuesday at his home. No charges have been filed, but the vehicle has been impounded.
