ROCKPORT, Maine — The summer concert series will kick off at 3 p.m. Sunday, July 10, at the Rockville Community Chapel, Old Rockland Street, off Route 17, with an instrumental concert featuring brother and sister, Phil Clement on guitar and Sybil Clement Wentworth on piano. Sybil and Phil participated in many local music events as they grew up in Camden.
Phil is a professional musician and songwriter, known for versatility in playing everything from folk to jazz, blues to gospel, and country to rock. He teaches guitar privately, and guides the group guitar lesson program at the Pen Bay YMCA.
Sybil teaches music at the Warren Community school. She has been involved in community theater productions, as well as serving as a church musician as organist and choir director since she was in elementary school.
Sybil and Phill perform monthly at the Methodist Church in Union and were encouraged by church members and family to record “Mom and Dad’s Favorite Hymns,” Vol. I and II.
Also performing this summer will be the Windjammer Barbershop Chorus at 3 p.m. Sunday, July 24, and the Bay Winds North at 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 14.
Lemonade and home-baked goodies be available for purchase on the lawn during intermission. Proceeds will go toward the continuing renovation of the chapel and to help pay the outstanding loan, which was necessary for the new roof and repairs to the steeple and belfry.
