Garden club bestows scholarship

CAMDEN, Maine — At its annual June luncheon on June 15, the Camden Garden Club introduced this year’s scholarship recipients:

• Graduating senior Sam Vail, who will attend Hampshire College in Amherst, Mass., where he will major in environmental science and sustainable agriculture.

• Two first-time scholarship winners at Camden Hills Regional High School class of 2010 —

Jessie Mathews, a sophomore at Boston University majoring in marine science; and Adrienne Horne, who is pursuing a degree in environmental engineering at Smith College. She currently is in China.

• Asa Peats, a junior at the University of Rhode Island where he is pursuing a degree in landscape architecture. This is the third time he has received a garden club scholarship.

Camden Garden Club also will provide Tanglewood with a scholarship for its residential camper program that focuses on environmental and nature studies.
