All-star tourneys roundup: Brewer records second tourney win for ages 11-12

BREWER — Kyle St. Thomas hit three home runs over the fence, driving in five runs and leading Brewer to an 11-5 baseball win over Lincoln in the District 3 Little League all-star tourney for ages 11-12 Thursday.

Jared Austin doubled, singled and scored three runs for 2-0 Brewer. Matt Crockett added a double.

Logan Thompson and Jordan Hanscom both singled and scored for 1-1 Lincoln. Cameron Fournier and Zack Tomilson also singled.

At Blue Hill, righthander Devin Grindle tossed four innings of one-hit baseball, striking out five and walking six, and he aided his own cause with three singles and two runs batted in as Coastal of Blue Hill beat eliminated Calais.

Caden Mattson had a double, two singles and two RBIs and Gavin Mote knocked in three runs with a double and a single for the 2-1 winners. Dakota Gillen had a triple and an RBI.

Jacob Hornbrook’s third-inning single was Calais’ only hit.

Calais wound up 1-2.

Machias 15, Bucksport 5/span>

At Bucksport, Zach Cox pitched 3 2/3 iinnings of two-run ball and Caden Steeves drove in two runs with a pair of singles as 2-1 Machias eliminated 1-2 Bucksport in five innings.

Zavier Hamilton had a run-scoring single for Bucksport.

Old Town 16, Hampden 2

At Old Town, Jake Dubay hit three doubles and knocked in six runs as Old Town topped Hampden.

Matt Bouchard had two singles, a double and three RBIs for 2-0 Old Town. Johnny Spencer doubled and singled with two RBIs and Mikey Downs hit a two-run double.

Tyler Knight led 0-1 Hampden with an RBI double and Noah Larson added a run-scoring single.

DEFY 19, Calais 5

At Ellsworth, Shelby Cote struck out nine in four innings and Katey Bagley had three singles with four RBIs as Down East Family YMCA of Ellsworth defeated Calais.

Alex Allen hit three singles and drove in three runs for 2-0 DEFY. Catie Hammer also had three singles with an RBI and Olivia Robidoux hit a three-run double in the first inning.

Emily Mitchell and Payton Lozier each hit two singles with an RBI for 0-1 Calais. Sydney Hatch hit a two-run single.

During this busy sports season, the BDN asks that managers and coaches for the home teams promptly report the games. Games can be reported starting at 5 p.m. on Monday through Friday and 3 p.m. on Sundays. Games can not be reported on Saturday.
