Brewer Legion team beats Calais for sixth win

CALAIS — Evan Eldridge’s RBI single and three Calais errors highlighted a three-run second inning that carried the Brewer Falcons to a 5-1 victory over the Calais Suns in an American Legion baseball game Tuesday night.

For 6-2 Brewer, Kyle McLain struck out six and walked three over the first six innings to subdue 2-6 Calais.

Tyler Varney and David Cropley each hit two singles for Calais, and Cropley scored the lone run.

Acadians 4, Hampden 2

At Blue Hill, Dennis O’Neill pitched a complete game giving up just three hits and no earned runs to propel the Acadians their first win of the season.

Nick Kane collected two singles, a triple and two RBIs for the 1-7 Acadians. Chase Bickford hit two singles while Mike Crowley added an RBI double.

Josiah Brazier singled twice for 6-2 Hampden.

Bangor 6, Penquis 1

At Dover-Foxcroft, Dylan Morris sparked a four-run third inning with a two-run double as Bangor defeated Penquis.

Tyler LaPlante and Curtis Worster combined to allow one run on two hits for 8-1 Bangor. Joe Stanevicz hit an RBI double while Nick Cota, Christian Corniel and Greg Duff each added an RBI single.

Josiah Richard hit a double for 1-7 Penquis.

Gardiner 4, Rockland 1

At Rockland, Brandon Martin allowed only three hits, a walk and struck out 11 to lead Gardiner by Amato’s of Rockland.

Cody Plourde paced Gadiner with a home run and Jim Theriault chipped in with a double and single.

Drew Townsend and Alelx Crans each doubled for Rockland.
