Snapper supreme

We found this snapping turtle (about the size of a dinner plate) in our driveway in South Rumford, said Susan Dolloff. The turtle had deposited several clutches of eggs just prior to this picture being taken on Wednesday.  Soon afterward she headed back across the field to the Androscoggin River. Snapping turtles hatch in 80 to 90 days on average, but can hatch earlier depending on the temperature.
