A new Katahdin and Baxter State Park map has hit the shelves.
What’s so great about this new map? For starters, the cartographer, Steven Bushey,
has used a 1:38,000 scale for contour lines versus the typically used 1:125,000 scale on several of the maps areas — making this map more detailed.
Bushey also has included great features like mileage between points on the various trails; a list and locations of backcountry campsites, Baxter campgrounds and private campgrounds; it shows where canoes are available; includes the new land easements; and to top it off this map is waterproof.
Bushey has done his legwork, and it shows. He has done a great job showing off the park in its entirety and doesn’t focus on just Mount Katahdin. Instead he has given us details on Russell Pond, Traveler Mountain and Katahdin.
For their part, Map Adventures has made this map colorful and user-friendly — a great combination for any adventure seeker.
