All-star tourneys roundup: Bangor softball stars in championship round

HERMON — Paige Cadorette knocked in Megan Conner with one out in the bottom of the sixth inning to give Bangor a 14-13 victory over Hampden Tuesday and a berth in the championship round of the District 3 Little League softball tourney for ages 11-12.

Bangor will face Hermon at 6 p.m. Wednesday in Hermon. Bangor must defeat Hermon twice in order to win the district title. If Bangor wins Wednesday, the teams play again Thursday at 6 p.m.

Quinn Wood posted two doubles and a single for Bangor, Kathryn Sund added three singles, Cadorette also had a double and a single, and Jenna Bishop hit two singles. Sund pitched the last two innings to earn the win.

Mikayla Leland led Hampden with a triple and an RBI.

At Ellsworth, Katie Bagley and Madison Clifford each had an RBI single and Shelby Cote struck out 12 batters to lead Ellsworth past Machias.

Brianna Barker knocked in Machias’ only run with a single in the first inning.

Lincoln 28, Bangor 9

At Hermon, Kim Vousine hit four singles, a double and knocked in four runs as Lincoln cruised past Bangor.

Lincoln will face Hermon (3-0) in the championship game today at 6 p.m. If Lincoln wins, then the two teams will play at the same time on Thursday.

Kortney McKecknie posted four singles and four RBIs for 2-1 Lincoln. Katie Tolman hit two home runs and a single with six RBIs. Kortney Thurlow added a double and a single.

Kahia Maheux hit a two-run single for 1-2 Bangor.

Coastal 18, Bucksport II 2

At Blue Hill, Logan Lord hit two singles, a triple and drove in two runs to help spark Coastal by Bucksport II in four innings.

Devin Grindle posted a two-run triple for Coastal while Gavin Mote contributed a two-run single.

Grindle, Mote and Lord combined to allow two runs on two hits.

At Machias, Noah Albert tossed 3 2/3 innings of one-hit, shutout baseball, striking out seven and walking three, and Caden Steeves tripled and singled and drove in a pair of runs as Machias improved to 1-1 and eliminated Ellsworth II in four innings.

Jackson Scoville had a two-run double for the winners while Albert and Zach Cox also doubled.

At Millinocket, Baxter Smith pitched a complete game, allowing one run on one hit, and helped his own cause with three singles as Old Town rolled past Millinocket.

Dana Ouellette hit two singles and a double for the winners. Ethan Stoddard added three singles while Cole Daniel doubled and singled.

Jesse McLaughlin hit a single for Millinocket.

At Sebasticook, Brewer notched five unearned runs, including three in the bottom of the fifth inning, and held on for the win over Sebasticook.

Kyle St. Thomas scored two runs and stole two bases for 1-0 Brewer. Jared Austin, Alex Brooks and Ethan Chadbourne each scored a run.

Cody Rice doubled, singled and drove in a run for Sebasticook. Johnny Bowman chipped in with two singles.

At Old Town, Matt Bouchard had four hits, including a triple, and drove in four runs to lead Old Town past Brewer in a mutual tournament opener.

Bouchard’s two-run single in the three-run fifth inning gave Old Town a 10-6 lead and the winners survived a three-run Brewer rally in the sixth.

Dillion Leland and Jacob Dubay had two singles and two RBIs apiece for Old Town.

James McLaughlin had two singles and three RBIs for Brewer and Robin Harris had a two-run double.
