TOWNSHIP 2 RANGE 10, Maine — Wardens, along with officials from Baxter State Park, rescued a 59-year-old man Saturday who had suffered a broken ankle in the area of Hurd Pond near the Ice Caves south of the park, according to the Maine Warden Service.

Few details, including the man’s name and his hometown, were available Tuesday because the wardens involved in the rescue were on days off, according to warden Lt. Kevin Adam of the Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife.

Adam said the man was carried out on a litter about half a mile to the nearest trail head.
