MILO, Maine — What better way to herald the summer season than to attend a festival named after every Maine town’s predominant resident at this time of year — the black fly?
The second annual Black Fly Festival will be held in Milo on Saturday, July 2, when activities are planned for young and old, according to Town Manager Jeff Gahagan.
It’s a community effort to pull together in these trying times, Gahagan said Tuesday.
Starting at 9 a.m., there will be children’s games followed by a parade starting on Riverside Street at 11 a.m. Games and a craft fair will continue throughout the day at Tradewinds parking lot.
The Country Western Jamboree will be held at 4 p.m. at the town hall followed at dusk by a lighted boat parade at Veteran’s Park Memorial Boat Landing.
