BUCKSPORT, Maine — Down East Center Ring Circus Band Concert, 7:30 p.m. Friday, July 8, at the Bucksport Performing Arts Center at Bucksport Middle School, Miles Lane. The concert is free but the donations will be accepted to benefit scholarships for music students in Hancock, Penobscot and Washington counties.

MONROE, Maine — Potluck supper and auction to benefit Becky Parker, 4:30-6 p.m. Saturday, July 9, at Monroe Elementary School on Route 139. Admission by donation. SEDGWICK, Maine — Third annual Lobster Feast and Barbecue to benefit Blue Hill Society for Aid to Children Nichols Day Camp, Scamp Camp and Adventure Camp, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, July 30, at the camps’ site on Walker Pond in Sedgwick. Admission is $20 in advance or $25 the day of the event for a lobster meal; $10 advance sale or $15 the day of the event for a hamburger-sausage meal or $5 for a hamburger or hot dog. BANGOR, Maine — Pianist Jazzou Jones hosts the release of his latest CD, “Hotfingers,” during a benefit premier Ragtime Open House 7-9 p.m. Friday, July 15, at the Brick Church on the corner of Union and Main Streets. A percentage of CD sales and additional donations will benefit the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition whose programs emphasize awareness of symptoms for early detection.

LITTLE CRANBERRY ISLAND, Maine — Cranberry Fest 2011, 11:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 13, on Little Cranberry Island. The event, featuring nine bands and food sold by Islesford Dock Restaurant, benefits the Islesford Neighborhood House. Advance reservations are suggested and advance tickets, including admission and the boat fare, are $35 each. Tickets the day of the event are $27 plus a $15 round-trip boat fare. ELLSWORTH, Maine — Downeast Scenic Railroad offers two, 1 ½-hour trips, one at 10:30 a.m. and the other at 1:30 p.m., each Saturday and Sunday during its 2011 season. One trip will be offered at 1:30 p.m. Monday, July 4, in Ellsworth. Tickets are $13 for adults and $7 for children 12-and-under. Children 2 and under ride free if they do not occupy a seat. Tickets can be picked up the day of the trip at Cadillac Mountain Sports, 32 High St. The boarding platform is behind the store. Proceeds benefit the nonprofit Downeast Scenic Railroad. SULLIVAN AND SORRENTO, Maine — Eight outstanding traditional and contemporary houses never before open to the public are featured on the Frenchman’s Bay Area House Tour, noon to 4 p.m. Thursday, July 14, in Sullivan and Sorrento. The tour benefits the Schoodic International Sculpture Symposium.
