Yard sale to benefit Dedham Congregational Church


HOLDEN, Maine — A yard sale to benefit the Dedham Congregational Church will be held from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, July 9, at the corner of Route 1A and Kingsbury Road.

Brewer Parks and Rec offers summer events

BREWER, Maine — The Brewer Parks and Recreation Department Summer Special Events

will begin with Rec Around the World from 9:30 a.m. to noon Friday, July 8, at the Brewer Auditorium.

Children ages 6 to 13 can learn about cultures around the world. The cost is $10 for residents and $18 for nonresidents. For information, call 989-5199.

Summer Camp program offered at Audubon Center

HOLDEN, Maine — Fields Pond Audubon Center will offer Summer Camp Nature Learning from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays, July 11 through Aug. 12, for campers ages 5 to 12. The camp activities will include stories, games and hands-on explorations of the natural world.

July 11-15, “Wild Things,” will be geared toward children entering 1st and 2nd grade.

July 18-22, “Fields Pond Naturalist,” is for children entering third to fifth grade.

Aug. 1-5,  “Nature, Up Close,” is for children entering first to sixth grade.

August 8-12, “EcoExplorers,” also is for children entering first to sixth grade.

Scholarship fund set up in memory of slain family

DEXTER, Maine — The Bagley family has established a scholarship fund in memory of Amy, Coty and Monica at Maine Highlands Federal Credit Union.

The scholarship is to be used for a student or students in need who are going into elementary education. Donations can be sent to Maine Highlands Federal Credit Union, P.O. Box 233, Dexter 04930.

Greenville church schedules annual auction

GREENVILLE JUNCTION, Maine — The People’s United Methodist Church will hold its annual auction at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 6, with a preview at 9:30 a.m. at the church.

Proceeds from this event help to sustain community support events such as the free spaghetti supper every Tuesday evening, the free community Thanksgiving Dinner and more.

Local food workshop to focus on high-bush blueberries

DEXTER, Maine — A representative of A.E.M. Berry Farm and Garden Center in Palmyra with more than 30 years experience growing berries will share his successes, disappointments and advice at a public meeting from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, June 30, at the Abbott Memorial Library meeting room.

P.E.T.S benefit yard sale postponed in Dover-Foxcroft

DOVER-FOXCROFT, Maine — P.E.T.S., Prevent Euthanasia through Sterilization, has rescheduled its annual benefit yard sale to 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, July 9, at the Dover-Foxcroft fire station.

P.E.T.S. is still accepting household items and collectibles for the sale. All donations go to help people get their companion animals spayed or neutered.
