BANGOR, Maine — WBRC Architects-Engineers on June 9 presented a $6,000 Steinway piano inaugural donation for Brewer Community School’s Performing Arts Center.

The new Brewer Community School, a 160,000-square-foot facility designed by WBRC Architects-Engineers, will provide resources to educate more than 1,000 students who now attend the five current and aging school facilities.

School Superintendent Dan Lee said, “Designing a school for over 1,000 students spanning grades pre-kindergarten through eight is a huge challenge as program and space requirements vary widely. WBRC’s team spent untold hours listening to our needs and concerns. Working through multiple options, they designed an attractive building utilizing green construction principles to serve future generations of Brewer’s children.”

The new school has been designed to LEED standards to maximize energy efficiency technologies. All heating and lighting controls will be computer-automated to allow for maximum energy savings. The 400-seat performing arts center incorporates state-of-the-art lighting that will provide dramatic color rendition for theatrical performances.
