Portland hopes new business park means more high-tech jobs

The Associated Press

PORTLAND, Maine — The city of Portland hopes to begin work this winter on a 26-acre business park designed to bring more bioscience businesses and jobs to Maine.

City officials say the Portland Technology Park will have space for seven buildings dedicated to bioscience companies.

City business development representative Nelle Hanig tells the Portland Press Herald the hope is the park will allow bioscience companies already in the area to expand and draw new companies from out of state.

The city will build a road and utilities running through the development, which will lead to all seven proposed building sites. Companies that move there will finance their own buildings.
