ORONO, Maine — An 18-year-old student from Windham who was at the University of Maine for new student orientation was caught early Sunday with alcohol, Joe Carr, university spokesman said.

Brandon Hodge, who will begin UMaine classes in the fall, was charged around 12:50 a.m. Sunday with illegal possession of alcohol by a minor.

“He was in a common area, or lounge if you prefer, in Knox Hall when residence hall staff became suspicious that the cup he was carrying might contain alcohol,” Carr said.

Police were called and charged Hodge after finding he was in possession of alcohol. (Nok-Noi Ricker, BDN)
