ROCKPORT — “Lee is a wonderful asset to Kno-Wal-Lin. She shines like a bright, beautiful star. She makes all her patients feel special, and she has a kind, gentle and reassuring way with dementia patients.”
This is just one of many glowing comments made by Lee Walck’s colleagues at Kno-Wal-Lin in support of her nomination as Employee of the Month for May.
Lee Walck, CNA, of Lincolnville Center has been a home health aide with Kno-Wal-Lin for a little more than two years. She did the same kind of work in Connecticut for six years. When she and her husband, Dave, moved to Maine in 1998, they bought and managed several
Dunkin’ Donuts stores, but Walck missed home health care. She took a job installing Lifeline equipment for KWL and was delighted when Marcia Van Buskirk encouraged her to apply for a home health position.
“It’s so wonderful to really love to get up in the morning and know you are going to do something that you are passionate about,” said Walck. “The reward for this job is every single day, when the client gives you that look or says that wonderful thing. That makes you want to soar.”
One of her fellow employees at Kno-Wal-Lin said, “Lee has a knack for finding common interests with her patients, and her genuine, caring personality shines through with everyone she comes into contact with.”
“Caring, compassionate, genuine, gifted — these are just a few words that describe Lee,” said another co-worker. “I know this at first hand, because she cared for my mother as a patient under our hospice program. The time my mom spent with Lee was one of the best things that happened to her during this difficult time.”
Kno-Wal-Lin celebrated Walck’s selection as Employee of the Month with a surprise party and a cake, and many colleagues dropped in to congratulate her. There was one negative remark from a Kno-Wal-Lin employee, however: “We can’t clone her!”
