LINCOLN, Maine — An energy assessor once employed by a Bangor service agency is the town’s new code enforcement officer, officials said Wednesday.

Dan Whittier, 26, was selected from a field of 21 candidates to replace former Code Enforcement Officer Jerry Davis, who is now Greenbush’s town manager and code enforcement officer, said Ruth Birtz, the town’s code enforcement supervisor.

Whittier, who started his new job on June 15, is a state-certified energy auditor who last worked for Penquis and who also is a certified building inspector, among other things, Birtz said.

As part of his agreement with the town, Whittier will work as the town’s code enforcement officer and health and licensed plumbing inspector, with the understanding that he will continue his studies and acquire any certifications he might lack, Birtz said.

Being a Lincoln native and his familiarity with the building trades have already put him in good stead during the first week at work, Birtz said.
