PITTSFIELD, Maine — Sebasticook Valley Health has announced the hiring of Jo-Nell Benedetto, M.D., as its new emergency department medical director.

Benedetto has more than 10 years of experience in trauma medicine and is board-certified by the American Board of Emergency Medicine, according to a press release.

“We are pleased to welcome Dr. Benedetto to our hospital community,” said SVH President and CEO Victoria Alexander-Lane. “Her tenure at Waterbury Hospital and her role in that hospital’s assignment as a Stroke Center status in Connecticut will help SVH fulfill its vision to provide and coordinate access to first-class comprehensive health care services to our patients.”

A graduate of the University of Connecticut School of Medicine, Benedetto performed her residency at the University of Connecticut Integrated Residency in Hartford. Since 2001, she has been an attending physician at Waterbury Hospital, where she worked in a busy level 2 trauma center treating adults and children. Benedetto has specific clinical expertise in conscious sedation and infection control standards.
