BOSTON — Grammy and Oscar winner Lionel Richie is the musical guest for this year’s Boston Pops Fourth of July concert, while Emmy and Golden Globe winning actor Michael Chiklis will host.
Richie is scheduled to perform some of his biggest hits on the Charles River Esplanade with the Boston Pops Orchestra under the direction of conductor Keith Lockhart.
The 38th annual outdoor concert is expected to attract more than 500,000 spectators.
Richie has won multiple Grammy awards in a 40-year musical career, and also won the 1985 Original Song Academy Award for “Say You, Say Me.”
Massachusetts native Chiklis is best known for his role as Detective Vic Mackey on the groundbreaking FX Network series, “The Shield.”
